Former Denver Jazz singer Wende Hairston was in a tight spot; surviving in an immobile mobile and illegal power hookup. Even though her brother helped her a bit, she was really not in a position to support her lovely companion who was a part of her life. She somehow managed to keep her parrot with her for a first half year of her life as homeless, but soon she found a better place for her partner.

Wende took her parrot, Samula at a parrot rescue center, Gabriel Foundation, because of the lack of space in her RV. She knew that it would be very hard to leave Samula behind, but she also knew that it was for the best. However, Wende soon found that the foundation needed somebody to keep their parrots company. So, she volunteered and came in with her guitar and started strumming and singing, echoes of her old life.
