These poor chimpanzees spent the last 30 years of their lives behind bars. A few of them were born in captivity while most of them were kidnapped from African jungles when they were babies. These poor animals were locked up in metal cages and used for a long series of experiments.
But thankfully in September 2011, 38 of the surviving chimps were released into a sanctuary in Austria called Gut Aiderbichl. After a lifetime of imprisonment and terrifying experiments, they finally felt the grass under their feet and breathed fresh wind; away from all the bars and bullet-proof glasses. The emotions displayed on their faces will no doubt touch your heart. This is very very heartwarming!
