When you come across the words ‘Factory Farming’ or ‘Breeding Rings’, the first things that might come to mind are farm animals like cows or pigs or chicken, or even dogs. But did you know horses have been “factory farmed” since a long time back as well? the main cause of factory Horse breeding is because of races. When someone bets on a racehorse, it involuntarily supports these dangerous breeding rings. Horse racing is a very lucrative business, so breeders do whatever they can to produce as much foals as possible.
And as we know, not every foal can be a race horse. So what happens to these foals? They are born and just left for dead. Lots of wonderful organizations are helping protect animals like dogs and cats, but we hardly come across rescue teams for horses. Fortunately, a woman called Victoria Goss has been working for the protection of these beautiful animals. In 2008 she established a non-profit organization called Last Chance Corral to help save these babies.
