Dayton O. Hyde is a hero. He spent all his life trying to save the wild horses in America. He almost abandoned his wife and family to begin the horse preserve. The once captured mustangs now run wild and free at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary without any fear of being captured and it is all thanks to Dayton O. Hyde. This video below is the trailer of the great ‘cowboy’ Dayton O. Hyde’s biographical documentary!
Dayton is environmentalist, writer and even freelance photographer. Before being a horse preserver, Dayton was an award-winning writer. He penned more than 20 books. It was only when he was in his 60s that he was inspired to establish his horse sanctuary and spent years gaining support for the projects from donors, volunteers and politicians. Now his sanctuary is fully established with 11,000 acre land for wild horses to run free.
It took a decade to shoot and make this documentary and I think it is soul-gripping. Watch this 2013’s incredible documentary titled “Running Wild: The Life of Dayton O. Hyde” in the video below. Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it in the comments!
