Every year, Kennedy Center organizes the honoring program and pays tribute to the artists who have made a substantial impact to American culture with their art. During this 1996 event organized by the organization, five great artists were honored and one of them was none other than the legendary Johnny Cash himself.
To honor Johnny Cash for hs contribution in the music world, many great artists who had worked with him previously came onstage and sang for him. The last performer to honor him was his own daughter Rosanne Cash. As she gave a description about her dad and sang “I Walk The Line”, Johnny’s signature song, Johnny sat in the audiences with guests like the then president Bill Clinton. As camera panned in on him to capture his expression, I couldn’t help but be moved. Everyone in the room had teary eyes too.
