Marina Abramović is a Serbian performance artist based in New York who began her career in the early 1970s. Her work explores the bond between performers and the audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of one’s mind. She has been active for over three decades and is often called the “grandmother of performance art.”
In 2010 as part of her one of her introspective “The Artist Presents”, Marina shared a moment of silence with each stranger who sat in front of her. Marina and another artist called Ulay started an intense love affair in the 70’s. When they ended their relationship they decided to walk the Great Wall of China each from one end, meeting for one last embrace in the middle. After that they never saw each other again. But on the opening night of her introspective, Ulay arrived without her knowing. What follows next is going to tug at your heartstrings!
