One should not judge a book by its cover. Someone may appear one way from the outside, but they might be hiding something completely different underneath the surface. Reality show The Voice takes away the appearance when it comes to judges hearing contestant’s auditions. These blind auditions mean that they judge the person on their voice and not by appearance.

This video shows Matthew Garwood’s audition for The Voice Australia. He got onstage in a sleeveless shirt, revealing some big and bold tattoos that went all the way to his neck. At first glance, he looked like a singer from a rock and roll band. But as soon as the music began, he started singing “All I Ask Of You” from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom Of The Opera. Even the judges were surprised when they turned around, even more so when he revealed his love for musical theater!
