When Nico Calabria was born, he didn’t have a right hip or leg. But his parents Carl and Jeanine gave him all the support in the world and provided him with everything that he wanted and deserved. They did not want their son to be limited by the things he didn’t have. So Nico never had a single doubt in his mind about his desire to become an athlete. Sports drink Powerade approached Nico and made this powerful commercial to display his endless spirit and also show that one can overcome any type of trouble with determination and hard work.
Nico went on to wrestle in high school, he learned gymnastics, and he also raised $100,000 for charity by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro at just age 13! He wanted to play in the World Cup when he was a kid, and though he couldn’t fulfill that dream, this particular commercial was aired at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He also represented the USA at the Amputee Football World Cup.
This inspiring clip was put together from home videos of Nico growing up. Watch it below! Did you like it? Share with us in the comments!
