The daughter of General Mario Lombardo died at the delicate age of two by pneumonia some 90 years ago. She was named Rosalia Lombardo. Her father loved her beyond the world and he could not accept the fate that his daughter was put through. So he sought help from a noted Sicilian embalmer Alfred Salafia. After Salafia was done, Rosalia was placed in Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily. She still rests there till date.

The secret behind her mummification had been kept a secret for many years, until professor Salafia’s handwritten memoir was discovered anthropologists.
