The daughter of General Mario Lombardo died at the delicate age of two by pneumonia some 90 years ago. She was named Rosalia Lombardo. Her father loved her beyond the world and he could not accept the fate that his daughter was put through. So he sought help from a noted Sicilian embalmer Alfred Salafia. After Salafia was done, Rosalia was placed in Capuchin catacombs of Palermo in Sicily. She still rests there till date.
Rosalia has been named Sleeping Beauty because of her close to perfect preservation. If you didn’t already know the truth, you would assume she was just a child taking her routine nap in a gloomy place. The secret behind her mummification had been kept a secret for many years, until professor Salafia’s handwritten memoir was discovered anthropologists.
It exposed that Rosalia’s blood had been switched with a formula that stopped the body from drying out and helped in killing bacteria. But her mummification isn’t the strange part, there is something extra. Watch the video below to find out!
