When Thayne Hamilton was encouraged by his family and friends to enter a contest on a Seattle based Talk It Up TV, he agreed. They would choose the winners via voting and they would get a prize of $1000. The TV station read Thayne’s story and declared him a winner.
Over the last 10 years, Thayne and his wife Christine had adopted at least 20 rescue dogs. They looked after them at their home in Orcas Island, WA. Their home became a rescue center called Grey Muzzle Rescue and the dogs became family.
But Christine got terminal diagnosis and passed away. She found it significant to save their house and the dogs than to pay for her hospital treatments. Thayne decided to honor her request and took care of the dogs despite his meager means.
