The fire department of Merced, California went viral for what it did in 2013. A careless driver had left his car in front of a fire hydrant. His car was blocking the way, should anyone be at risk. Then, lo and behold, moments later, a fire started in a house nearby. This fire engineer’s next move would remind the driver never to place his vehicle in front of a hydrant again.
The fire engineer had no choice but to throw the hose directly through the car, shattering both windows in the process. Deputy Chief of the Department, Don Long told CNN “He just took his hydrant wrench and took out the driver’s side, walked over took out the passenger side.” I think that this fire engineer should be praised for what he did. How else could he have handled the situation?
